Mobicip parental controls setup - iPhone/iPad

Click here if your device has iOS < 15

This article explains how to set up Mobicip on your child's iOS device (iPhone or iPad) with iOS 15 and above.

Before you begin:

  • Check if Apple Family Sharing is enabled. Learn More
  • Check if the family device you wish to protect is using your child’s Apple ID. Learn More
  • Check if you have physical access to the family device you wish to protect. Once the initial setup is complete, you can manage it remotely forever.

Download Mobicip app from the App store on the iOS device you wish to protect. Launch Mobicip and select the ‘Child’ option.

Login using your Mobicip account or Scan the QR code from Mobicip on your phone or browser.

Select the user profile applicable to this device. If you do not have an existing profile, select ‘Add Child’ and create a profile for your child by updating their name and date of birth.

Mobicip automatically configures age-appropriate Internet restrictions for your child. These restrictions include options to allow or block popular social media apps or websites, video streaming apps or websites, Internet categories, daily free time limit…etc. You can review and customize these settings later as well to ensure a safe online experience for your child.

In the next pages, you need to

  • ‘Allow’ Mobicip to send push notifications

  • ‘Allow’ Mobicip to track the location of your child’s device.

  • click on ‘Continue’ to let Mobicip access Screen Time.
  • Note:  For this permission, Apple Family Sharing requires you to enter your (parent/admin) Apple ID.

  • ‘Allow’ Mobicip to filter Network Content and enter device passcode to add filter configurations.

Then you can curate Mobicip for your family by categorizing the apps installed in your child’s device under the categories ‘Social’, ‘Entertainment’ and ‘Games’.

This process helps Mobicip to accurately predict the amount of time your child spends on Social media, Games and Video apps. Mobicip classifies these as Entertainment time for a child, while most apps in other Apple categories are not entertainment focused. If you believe an app in a different category falls under social media or games or video, please go ahead and choose the app while choosing the category.

Once done, let the device registration process complete.

That's it! Your child's device is secured by Mobicip and you can hand over the device to your child.
