How do I block apps and limit time spent on apps?

This article explains how to block specific apps and set time limits for the app categories for each of your children in your Mobicip account.

1. Block Apps:

Mobicip lets you block apps by category or by app. You will be able to block apps/app categories by clicking Content > Apps > Blocked Apps.

  • By category: Apps in Social Media, Entertainment, Games categories can be blocked completely. Blocking/allowing a category will block/allow all apps that fall under that category.

  • By apps: Parents can search for a specific app in the Play Store or App Store and add it to the blocked apps list. Deleting the app from the list will allow your child to access the app.

Once blocked,

  • on iOS devices, the apps will appear grayed out and your child cannot access them
  • on Android devices, a blocked by Mobicip screen appears with a message that the app is blocked by the parent. Your child can request access to apps from this block screen and you can choose to allow or reject the request from the parent app.

2. Limit Apps:

You can set restrictions on the total time spent on Social Media, Game and Entertainment Apps. You will be able to limit apps/app categories by clicking Content > Apps > Limit Apps.

By default, your child will have unlimited access to these categories and by setting the time limit, you can control the amount of time your child spends on these apps. Game time limits can be set only for your child’s Android devices.

Once limit is reached,

  • on iOS devices, the apps will appear grayed out and your child cannot access them
  • on Android devices, a blocked by Mobicip screen appears with a message that the app is blocked by the parent. Your child can request access to apps from this block screen and you can choose to allow or reject the request from the parent app.
